ENT and Zoo

Aidan had his ENT appt today and his right tube is actually still in!! Yippee. Both tubes are in and functioning. He doesn't go back for 5 months. My husband made my lunch for tomorrow- guess what he made me? Yeah EGG SALAD. (see previous post).

We went to the zoo this afternoon around 3:30. It was busier than I expected but it didn't last long. We brought a picnic dinner and pretty much had the whole grass area to ourselves.

What's on the menu

Abby asked what is on the menu tonight. I told her bbq hamburgers, corn and macaroni salad. She says, "That's not on my my menu. My menu is toast, cheesy noodles (mac/cheese) and cookies."
My mom is in Hawaii for a medical conference and visiting my Aunt and Uncle who live there. We are taking care of her house/yard/cats. Saturday I packed a picnic and let the kids play in the sprinklers since we have to stay there awhile watering the grass. They loved it- especially since our back yard is un-useable due to the trees. I'm going to get up at 5ish tomorrow to run over there and start the sprinklers. She lives a mile from us- thank goodness. Tomorrow is Aidan's ENT appt and since I am getting off early for that we are going to take the kids to the zoo in the very late afternoon- hoping it won't be so busy and it's our FIRST trip there this year.
After church today we did more watering at mom's, a costco run, nap time (including Rick and I) and then took Aidan to stride rite for some new tennis shoes. They had the CUTEST fire truck tennis shoes- and on sale!! He was so excited he clapped and wouldn't take them off.
I started running again this week- he said to ease into it. I don't think that is my problem. It's this hot weather and lack of motivation. I think I ran a little over 2 miles and walked 9. Plus I feel like I am so completely out of shape- like I have to start all over again. If someone would just dangle a Starbucks out there- you know like at the dog races where they chase the rabbit. That would work for me. I know it would.

Egg Salad

So... I make Rick's lunches. I had some eggs that were close to expiring or maybe they already had so I boiled them to make an egg salad sandwich for his lunch. Last night we were talking and I cannot remember why he brought this up but he says, "I had an egg salad sandwich today." My reply, "yes, and you are having one again tomorrow." Then he says, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" Now, tell me how would YOU take that? Therefore my next reply was something like this, "well now you are going to eat them all next week for lunch."
YOU GET WHAT YOU GET SO DON'T THROW A FIT.

My Daughter...

She's been saying this: "You get what you get so don't throw a fit"
I don't know where it came it from but it's funny- and I feel it pertains to me and my Starbucks. They almost messed up again this morning but I caught it before I drove off (it's a drive thru). This is a sign that I need to work more diligently at giving it up. I've tried countless times. I'm weak for lattes. And they are decaf- so it's not like I'm getting a 'fix' but I know we could stand to save the money. Anyway I asked her where she learned that quote- if it was from school and she says she learned it at church and then she says, "Why do you keep asking me?" as if I am annoying her.
Sometimes you need a 3 year old to help you put it all into perspective. So remember that, you get what you get so don't throw a fit.
On the way to school this morning we were behind this truck that has printed on the back, Otis Spunkmeyer. Abby says something like, "that's a cookie truck"- we have NEVER had this brand of cookies in our house, they don't serve them at school or church- and I'm not sure if they have commercials??? There were no pictures of cookies on the truck. I cannot figure out how she knows this. She knows the basic places 'sign/logo recognition' that we go to and can point them out like Home Depot, Kaiser, Starbucks, Target, Costco, Babies R Us, Chuck E Cheese (although never been there) but Otis Spukmeyer??? and at the end of the slogan there is an exclamation point (!!!!) and she says, "Mom, those I's are upside down" (cute right?) Which then reminded me that I need to work more with her on writing her letters so I mention this to her and she says, "Well, I can make a pretty good N"
Today was Aidan's first day back at daycare in a month I think. I was a crying mess when I left. Ever since he was sick he's been so clingy- always holding his blanket and snowman. This morning he didn't want to be put down- made it hard to get all of us out the door. As soon as we walk in his school he starts fussing- then when it came time for me to leave he was hysterical, saying Mama Mama with his arms out. It was all I could do to refrain myself from scooping him back up and just going home. A side note, Aidan loves and adores his daddy- (both kids ended up with him as the favorite, preferred parent) anyway, he's awake in his crib this morning and I go into his room, he stands up, points to the door and says "da-yee" and then signs "more" and points and says "da-yee" and then signs more again. More daddy. More daddy.

Whirlwind Monday

Hit the snooze button at least 3 times this morning. Stopped at Starbucks. They messed up my drink again. Stopped at grocery store for vanilla flavor to just keep at work in case it happens again. Grocery store is OUT of vanilla flavor. Think about throwing small fit but just leave. Went to work. Rick dropped the kids off at the end of my day, we switched cars. He went to the dr. and I took Abby to gymnastics. Came home threw together dinner of which the kids barely ate due to their pickiness. Also threw together a meatloaf and baked taters for tomorrow night's dinner since it's soccer night. Cleaned up dishes, kitchen floor, vacuumed. Bath time. Got one kid in bed. Ironed a small replica of what looked like a Mt. St. Helen's laundry pile. Hopped on treadmill for a quick 1.5 mile walk (better than nothing right?) Rick went out and mowed the lawn. Got the other kid in bed and finally can sit down!
Welcome Tuesday!

Here Am I...

oh Lord. I am completely yours. Mold me and make me. Jesus come shape me. I lay my life down to follow you...
He is unchanging. Forgiving. Full of Grace. We are Grateful. Thankful. So Very Blessed.

Rick worked Wed through Sat this week- so he was gone on the 4th and the Saturday after. I spent the 4th wrapped in a sweatshirt and down blanket still dealing with my fever/chills. We were able to light some fireworks and visit with the neighbors once he got home. Saturday I finally felt back to normal and cleaned the entire house from top to bottom. Abby had a little too much tv but it allowed me to get it done in one day. Rick is still sick. He sees the dr on Monday for his foot pain so at least he will get checked over regarding the virus.
Despite being sick last week I managed to walk 10 miles. It's so good to have the kids healthy- listening to them giggle and see their bright smily faces. Today after church we ran some errands and after nap time we took the Willamette Shores Trolley from Lake Oswego to Portland and back. It was a fun outing. Here are some pics from the past few days.

They like to drag out the bins of this shelf thing and sit in them and read Rick's magazines

Aidan loves to go in the bonus room and peek out the blinds

Waiting for fireworks

I washed me-me. We have to sneak it away without him knowing. Anyway I pull him from the dryer and Aidan takes him into the bathroom and declares that me-me has to go potty and shoves him in there. Have to re-wash me-me.

101 and Aidan Update

101. Bet you can't guess what that is. It would be my temperature. Yeah... fun times. I am still on antibiotics from that whole bronchitis thing. Yesterday Rick says he has a sore throat, then as the day progressed I wasn't feeling so hot. So I guess it's back-to-back viruses for me. Too much time in dr offices lately? or maybe all the stress we went through lowered our immunity. I feel like I have been run over by a truck.

Needless to say my 'getting in back in the groove' of cooking didn't last. Tonight was mac and cheese for the kids and chicken noodle soup and toast for mom and dad.

Aidan had his follow up appt today for his weight check. Of the 2lbs that he lost, he has gained 8 ounces back. She said this is more than she expected and considers it 'excellent.' She also thinks his right ear tube already fell out. Well... that didn't last long. He only got them in Feb. He sees the ENT in another week anyway. We still have to continue the albuterol inhaler because he is still raspy when he breathes.

Cornbread Skillet & Starbucks

My first 'involved' meal that I've cooked since my surgery- I made cornbread skillet tonight. Wasn't a big hit- the kids are so picky. Give em mac n cheese or grilled cheese and they eat that.
So it's back to cooking and getting in the groove. Rick went back to work after 17 days with us. A certain little boy sure misses his dah-yee.

I was told I can start light walking after the two week mark so I took the kids on a 2 mile walk this morning and walked another mile on the treadmill tonight and tried some bicep curls. I miss running but hey it's at least something right?? Now I am going to INHALE some strawberries on top of pound cake with cool whip.

Last night on the news they were talking about Starbucks closing 600 stores. Abby sees the logo and says, "Look there's Starbucks" What an eye opener at how much I go there! In addition to her knowing Starbucks, during bathtime she makes me lattes. She says, "Do you want a whole milk vanilla latte?" Why sure- I wouldn't turn that down.

Rick has now come down with a sore throat. Sooner or later all 4 of us will be healthy at the same time. I'm hopeful anyway.

Meet Me-Me

This is snowman. You see him in almost every picture of Aidan. He used to call him man-man- which was close to snowman. Now he calls him me-me. As I am typing this he sees snowman on the screen and points excitedly and says "where me-me go" and trots off to find me-me.
We decided to enroll Abby in an extra day of preschool. Her school just built a brand new facility and her class transferred there during the week she was sick so today was her first day in the new building. She was excited she wasn't at the 'baby school' anymore. They have the baby/toddler facility and then the new place which is preschool up to 6th grade. She'll have to start wearing uniforms in the fall-guess that cuts down on back to school shopping. She had a great day and her nose finally quit running. She still doesn't have much of an appetite. Anyway this added day gives Rick some father/son time and allows to him somewhat work on his projects. I am hopefully off to bed to continue to get over this sore throat and headache.
