Vacation. Stat.

Seriously. Where are these weeks going? My brain is mush. Random post of nothing. We are in survival mode. Between homework, piano, the Bible verses, the reading. OH MY WORD. Abby was on her own this week with her Bible verse. Thankfully both kids had them down. And then it starts ALL OVER. Every day, MULTIPLE times a day working with Aidan on his spelling words. Friday morning before work more practice tests and quizzing Abby for her history test. Now she has a book report project and he is special person next week. I helped in his classroom for Writer's Workshop this last Thursday. They just don't stay little long so I'm soaking this up. Still doing swimming lessons, soccer, gymnastics. Abby has decided she wants to be water baptized we are now adding a month full of Sunday classes for her driving her back to church in the afternoon. I love her heart for Jesus. So yeah. A vacation sounds nice. But then it doesn't because of all the catch up and MY. JOB. School pictures came back. She is doing retakes (hair in the throat). Her birthday is FAST approaching so getting invites done and what not for that. Bye week for soccer so it's house cleaning day and homework. There are PILES EVERYWHERE.  It is driving me to the brink. Abby has a birthday party to attend on the other side of town late this afternoon/evening so Aidan and I will be shuttling her to that between rain showers. She finished a round of antibiotics. Had a quick Daddy date last Sunday. I took Aidan on a Mommy date Monday while she was gymnastics. He bought her birthday gift and then we went to Starbucks. We've been passing some tummy bug around where you feel nauseated for a few days. Week before last Aidan didn't eat his lunch 3 days in a row. Had a hot stone massage this week. Aidan likes the Beavers again. Abby wrote her own song and designed a dress. I have no idea who she inherited these traits from.

Slow Down

I wish time would slow down a little... well, except for when I am at work. The weeks are just flying. Abby took a big tumble last week at recess and her knee was a mess. Being chased by boys.
Rick had Saturday off because we had family pictures. He got to see Aidan's soccer game and see him score a goal. Lots of kitchen time- lettuce wraps, tres leches cake, salsa, chicken and dumplings. It was my weekend to clean the house. The kids were fighting over who got to help clean the bathroom floor. I could totally get used to that. Football season is upon us therefore lots of football playing in the house by my boys. Aidan's reading is progressing. Took Abby to urgent care after church yesterday. She's been coughing since BEFORE school started and I was trying to hold out because this child has been on antibiotics a good 14 times, maybe more. Well that didn't go so well and the dr declared that she is wheezing pretty good. So home with an inhaler and prednisone. Plus a prescription for an antibiotic to fill if she isn't better in a few days.  Got in 4.57 miles this morning, dr for xray of my hip, work, and another back to school night tonight after gymnastics. Another long day.

Back at it

First week of school in the books. Already into piano practice and homework, spelling tests and memorizing bible verses. Aidan had his first soccer game Saturday and then soccer pictures. We came home and ate a quick lunch and met my mom at the mall. More spoiling of the children. My kids have no idea how good they have it with how much Grandma does for them. Sunday was church-hubs first time serving in the nursery/toddlers. Kids had swim lessons.
Monday was school picture day and Aidan's loose tooth got knocked out and he swallowed it. Abby started her new fall gym class that goes until 6pm. I left early to get to Back to School night for Aidan. Tonight is soccer practice and Barre. Another evening home at 8pm. Sigh.

First Day of School

Can't believe school has started! I got teary this morning when I was doing Abby's hair. We walked her to her room first and then Aidan to his. This is his 3rd year here- PreK and K and now 1st so I didn't think there would be any issues. He sure surprised us. We kissed him and went to leave and he came running back to us and was sobbing. I scooped him up and held him and then my own waterworks started. He said he wanted us to stay so we stayed awhile longer. His teacher came over to talk to him and engage him. We tried to leave again and he started crying. I told him she needed to start class and she created a diversion to have him be her "helper." After we left we did a 10.66 mile run, came home and showered and drove to the Allison Inn for lunch. We sat outside and and at Pinot Burgers and then split dessert. By the time we were done it was time to get the kids. We took them out to frozen yogurt and then Aidan had soccer practice. After soccer practice we met my mom for dinner and she took the kids to the book store. Long day but so so blessed.

Week 12 Goodbye Summer

Sniff Sniff. Last Sunday was camp celebration at church so the kids were in the sanctuary with us. Came home and needed to head to Costco... Aidan slammed his fingers in the garage door. After Mommy hugs we headed out and did our shopping and while Rick was talking to the tire guy I looked down at his finger(s) and one was swelling up pretty good. Went to urgent care and the dr deemed no xray needed and that it will get worse before it gets better type thing and could last a few weeks. Ate lunch at 2pm and then headed to swim lessons. Monday I took the day off so we could go to the State Fair. Tuesday was work and I forgot Rick had a dentist appt so I took the kids with me to the office until he was done. After work I delivered a meal to a gal's family I went to high school with- she has been in radiation isolation for thyroid cancer. Aidan had soccer practice and from there I went to Barre. Crazy long day. Wednesday he took the kids for back to school haircuts and to the store for them to pick out items to deliver to the food pantry. Although from what I hear it sounds like Dad did the picking out part. Thursday they went on a field trip for bowling and that night was was meet the teacher and school supply drop off. I'm so relieved about class assignments. Last year was a rough year on us with a certain boy in Aidan's class. Friday was their last day at summer daycare- they had a pajama party. I left work a little early because of the Labor Day traffic- went the back roads and made good time so I was able to get a head start on house cleaning. Rick had yesterday off and I have Tuesday off so we get in extra family time. Abby has been coughing that past few days. Not a good start to the school year. Aidan's finger looks soooo much better. I went to Barre yesterday and then Abby had gymnastics. More cleaning and a little pool time for them. We wrapped up the day with dinner out and took them to see Planes. Today our church service was at the dairy and not until 11 so it was nice to sleep in. We both skipped running and hubs made spinach, mushroom, and brie omelets with turkey bacon. I'm thinking we should change our 8am service to the 11am service :-) It was nice to be lazy. Our church provided lunch and a carnival after the service. We had to leave early to get the kids ready for their swim lesson. Tomorrow I'm going to Barre and we're enjoying our last day of "freedom."
