Boards and Batman

Aidan broke his first board at TKD! And...I missed it. Rick brings them on Tuesdays so I can just come home from work and get dinner made and get a run in. I guess Aidan got a ball to the face and Abby has been overly emotional this week so both kids were a crying mess and Rick had to join in. He called me on his way home to tell me he got exercise too!
This morning when I dropped Aidan off, his teacher suggested we find his picture sheet on the wall (they had an open house on Monday for prospective students). We found it and it was a bio sheet of Aidan that has his height and weight, pictures, and things about him such as
Favorite food: PB&J
Favorite toy: Race Cars
something else I can't remember
and the best one
Future Occupation: BATMAN.

Well...

looks like fall is finally here!! Friday night (Yes- they have late appointments!) Abby had her 6yr appt. She's still 10% for height and weight. The little peanut. I asked about allergies- since last year at this time we tried Flonase for this throat clearing problem. Same time this year she has this snorting problem. I don't know how else to put it. We are trying Flonase again and then maybe a referral to an allergist. She also thinks Abby might have a deviated septum. There is nothing ENT could do anyway until she is an adult.
Saturday we had all the kids under one roof! Doesn't happen often. I'm sad I didn't get a better picture of all them together. Aidan finsihed his meds for strep on Friday. Saturday afternoon he was complaining of another headache and didn't look too good. Wouldn't eat. Sunday morning said his head hurt again, I gave him some tylenol and figured maybe he is coming down with a cold. In the car on the way to church he claims he is going to throw up and I could tell he was trying to hold it back- we turn around and drive home. He perks up at home, we go to a birthday party because he seemed better, then on the way home he falls asleep in the car and then just wants to lay on the couch. He has a low grade temp and tells me his back hurts. I look online and he has the symptoms of recurring strep. I look in his throat last night and it's bright red. He wakes up this morning and the strep rash is back on his cheeks. Rick took him to the dr and they said if they do another rapid stress test it would be positive because he just finished the meds so now they are growing the culture for 48 hours. He's on a different antibiotic now and we have to watch Abby because he could pass it back to her (again).

What a week!!!

After missing gymnastics, swimming and one taekwondo class I think we are getting back in the groove. Both kids are doing better. Abby broke her 2nd board tonight. I had my hair colored back dark. Cooper went to urgent care tonight and now he's on antibiotics too!!! Chaos and Craziness....

Snakes and Strep

Aidan has strep now. Apparently strep presents itself differently in little kids. Abby for instance, no fever, no sore throat- just a big neck. Aidan- just a headache and a rash.
Anyway when Abby and I were getting ready for school/work this morning she says, "Mom, do snakes talk?" I said no, they don't. She says, "Well the one in Adam and Eve did."
She's our little sponge.
and
"Mom,maybe my tooth will come out today when I swing. Because I swing really fast and really hard"

Football, Strep Throat, and Pumpkins oh my

Who knew? I put the jersey on him on Saturday to take pictures of him with Abby and her duck shirt and he instantly turned into this (below). It was unreal. Who is this kid?????

This is our life for the next 10 days. Abby has had this stuffed up nose for about 2 weeks. At first I thought it was a little cold, then thought maybe allergies. Wasn't too worked up since she has her 6yr check up in week or so. Last night before bed she tells me her neck hurts. I feel around and the entire left side of her neck is enormous. Not just the normal enlarged glands when you get a virus, her neck felt like she had softball in it and to look at it- it was almost disfiguring. She said she felt fine though- that it was just a little sore. I had Sunday School duty this morning and when we got to church I suggested to Rick that maybe we should just swing by urgent care after to have her checked (to ease my mind mainly). After an hour wait, we were finally seen and from our conversation it seemed perfectly normal that maybe it was the start of another virus. The Dr. did however suggest a strep test and said if it's negative I want you to come back to the room (to decide what to do next). Both the Dr. and I said, it will be negative so we'll just see you back here. To my surprise she did test positive. Another hour in the pharmacy because Abby is allergic to the first two courses of antibiotics they would try.

October!!!

Girly girl has a birthday this month. This is the picture day outfit she chose for school.

Of course she still remains to be the one and only Duck fan in the family and picked out a duck donut

A friend of mine, her mother-in-law was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. Surgery is not necessary and they are meeting this coming week to discuss chemo, and eventually hospice care. Cancer sucks. My heart has been heavy for them.
We're just plugging along.... busy busy.....
