Week 2 Summer

Aidan's soccer class consists of him and his buddy Jake. That's the whole class. Can't complain- it's like private lessons. Kids' swim instructor had/has to cancel 5 Sundays in a row... so we did back to back make up classes Tues and Wed this week. I signed Abby up for a pop tart making class. The kid loves pop tarts. Yes, I do let her indulge in the store bought icky sugar and preservatives. Funny how when she was born I was all about tofu and "she will never EVER watch tv or eat 'boxed' food." HA. Or how I would never co-sleep. I can't count the times I woke up to little squeaks because I was smooshing Aidan. Field trips this week were a movie and the Humane Society. Taking them to a jump place tomorrow morning to play before Aidan's hair appt. The rest of the weekend is devoted to getting the dreaded annual garage sale ready.

Week 1

First week out of school. Kids are home Mon and Tues with dad. Wed-Fri they are at daycare only until the end of June and then we are splitting Wednesdays to only send them two days a week to save $$. Wed they went to a play place for a field trip, got a call at 2pm that Aidan had hit his head and was dizzy. Didn't know at that point that he had already been crying for an hour... Rick was home so I called him since he was closer and told him to go get him. He observed him and he seemed fine and went back to playing once Rick got there. I left work and met Rick at home and then we met the kids off the bus at their school. Aidan looked sleepy so of course I was worried and the fact that he had been dizzy had me on edge. But I told myself he didn't throw up, no seizure, he was coherent- he should be fine. All through dinner he looked REALLY sleepy so I wasn't sure if it was from his head or from him playing so hard. He fell right to sleep and 3:30am I woke to him crying hysterically about his head hurting. Got him up and calmed down and we went back and forth, should we take him should be not yes no maybe. By all appearances he was fine. But you just don't wake up crying about your head hurting at that age and then I kept thinking about that woman skier who hit her head and I think she just had a headache and later died.... woke Abby up and we were on our way to the ER. Dr. reassured us we did the right thing even though he looks fine and he is fine... again, he woke up at 330 for a reason.... so we were told little concussion no activity rest of the day. Unplanned day off for me so I got right down to business and cleaned the house so I didn't have to spend my weekend doing it and missing out on doing something fun with the kids. More often than not being a working mom just gets in the way of FUN. Went back to work Friday, got the kids and finished my chores- kitchen floors, laundry, ironing, our bathroom so I could spend ALL of Saturday with the kiddos. Took them to get bagels, we went to the park, we made oreo pops, watched a movie, they played in their bounce house and water table.... it was a great day.

Going to church
Going to church
Got them ready for bed and told them we had to run an errand and took them to see Madagascar
Found this and want to keep it. She has another on the back. She said she did it one day when she came home
This little monkey... Abby and I spent one afternoon going up and down the stairs hauling stuff to the garage for our upcoming garage sale. Aidan just loafed in this chair....

Old.

Last week when Rick was running he says, "I can't remember if I ran around the park" (it's part of his normal route). I chided with him about being asleep while he was running or just old age. I was cleaning the house last Saturday and doing the downstairs floors and then it hit me, I couldn't remember if I did the laundry room floor upstairs. I was upstairs that morning and did our bathroom but I couldn't remember doing the laundry room. I even inspected it and still wasn't sure. What a pair. One of these days we'll look at each other and say, "and who are you?"

AHHHHH-CHOOO

My allergies are out. of. control. House is clean. Took all day yesterday- well, in between a tball game that is. Happy to cross off things on the to-do list it makes me feel more productive. Sunday school duty this morning, trip to Costco and then we had a fabulous quick visit with Jess, Reilly and Blakeley. Ohhhhh the sweetness. It was bliss. Kids had swim lessons today, ran another errand and then it was home for Rick to mow and me to get meals ready for the week in the kitchen. Quickest weekend ever. Last week of school and tball! I'm finding the closer it gets to Father's Day the more agitated I'm becoming. My father and I are estranged and we haven't seen him in a year. I just want the day to be over. Hopefully I'll have myself in a good space so Rick can enjoy his day.
Helping brother practice for recital

It's a race

against time. I feel like I am constantly trying to beat the clock. This morning I had 9 minutes before we were supposed to leave for work/school and I still had rollers in my hair and the car to load. Worked today, picked up the kids and then I started on my to do list for the weekend...which was making lemon cream bar popsicles (hello priorities) getting a head start on house cleaning- vacuum stairs, clean downstairs bathroom, upstairs bathroom, laundry room, make banana muffin batter, repaint my toenails (cause that's SUPER important right?), laundry, ironing, writing a letter to my Great Aunt and Uncle, measuring out dog food for the week, wrapping a birthday present yada yada... I had it in my mind to try to have everything accomplished by 9pm so I could curl up in bed and read the paper. I finished at 9:02. Yay me.  And then tomorrow it starts all over again except it's the weekend and I plan on getting up at 5 to run and start in on the list again which is basically cleaning the rest of the house.
Got a letter from Nzembi, written on 2/14 sure takes a long time to get here!
"Hello Julie Nzembi has the pleasure to say hey to you. She says she is well in the Lord. Nzembi says thank you for the support you are giving her. She requests you to pray for her and her parents to have good health. She also asks how the weather is at the US now. She requests you to greet your friends for her. She always prays for you. God bless you."
