Goodbye October

Both kids have colds. Seems everywhere we go I hear other kids with the same cough. Aidan had his end of season soccer party at the trampoline place on Tuesday. No school on Friday. Went to the zoo today and took my mom. Abby had a birthday party/sleepover to get to right after. The boys and I made it to the library before closing and grocery shopping :-)

Wow!

Huge wind storm came through today. We had no power all afternoon. I saw that the basketball hoop fell over but Rick was sleeping so I just left it and figured he and I could move it before he left for work. Our neighbor came over and she asked me if she could help me move it.(It was laying on our dogwood). I told her I was going to wake him up in a few minutes anyway. Five minutes later a huge crash on our front window. The street tree blew over. Looking for the positive in all things- our window didn't not break. Thankful for neighbors who came to help especially the one with the chainsaw. Aidan had his last soccer game today. Been just another week of maneuvering work, school, activities. Beautiful rainbow last Monday night. Had some car break in's in the neighborhood with police, sirens and one arrest. The neighbor two doors down woke up to nike shoes and a laptop in his front lawn (after a night of rain) from one of the suspect's that got away. Apparently (it seems) we were the only ones who slept through it. EVEN THE DOG. I told Rick we need a back up dog. He's still not on board.

TEN.

Unreal that she is 10 years old now. For her birthday she wanted to go to Biscuits for breakfast for chocolate chip pancakes and Benihana for dinner. I think all we've done this weekend is eat and eat some more. The balloon fairy of course puts a balloon in your room while you are sleeping so you wake up to it hovering nearby. After breakfast we came home, Ashley came over and then Grandma. She opened presents and then her and I left with Grandma because Grandma wanted to take her shopping. It was rather quick as we had to be back for Aidan's football game. Huge dinner and home to bed.
Happy Birthday to our sweet girl!

Celebrating

It's Abby's Birthday weekend. We went out last night after piano lessons. The pet store we always stop at after we at this restaurant had Aussie Pups. I die!! Also had her well child visit. Still tiny- she is 56lbs. Today was her party. Sewing party for American Girl Dolls. Of course Aidan has his best soccer game of the season and I wasn't there!  Hubs and I chaperoned Aidan's pumpkin patch field trip.

Cold. Not Cold.

Abby has the first cold of the school year. It definitely was not cold earlier this week. Temps were high 80's and it was HOT. Crazy to turn the AC back on in October. Hubs got sick next. I don't really remember much of this week-just was out of sorts. Same routine. Aidan had a fabulous soccer game today. Spent most of this afternoon in the kitchen working on meals and starting weekly lunches. Trying to break it up so Sunday isn't so crazy. First time making Sopes. Yummy. Cooper's stitches weren't ready to come out at his follow up. So another week. Still waiting for results. He got a bath and shave on Friday!

43.

My mom's last day of work was Tuesday. Retiring after 43 years as a Physician's Assistant with Kaiser. I'm still in disbelief that she actually called it quits! Just waiting with bated breath for her to announce she wants to move back to Hawaii... time will tell. Wednesday was early release for the kids so I worked a short day. Abby had gym. Thursday was family night at their school so we went to that. The smoke detector in our room also started beeping (thankfully before we went to bed not the usual 2am) and I said a silent prayer of thanks that it was on Rick's night off because we have vaulted ceilings in our room which calls for the special ladder. I don't even know what the ladder is called but it's HONKIN and I don't think I could get to it in the garage let alone up the stairs and set it up. I would have had to call him at work to come home. The best part- he had ONE 9V battery left. Lucky day for sure. Thursday was also the day Cooper had a biopsy done on his head. Week-long wait for the results. He also kept us up from 2am until 6. Was not a good night for anyone. Made a new recipe- buffalo chicken soup with orzo. Absolutely yummy. Took the kids the homecoming football game Friday night. Today was kids' hair cuts, soccer, flu shots, errands and I took a nap. I also tried another new recipe- orange chicken. SO.GOOD. Need to double it next time. Preview of a few family photos.
