Week 7 Summer

Kids are 7 weeks in and where is summer??? We had like 4 days of pool-worthy weather so far.... Abby's gymnastics coach pulled me aside on Saturday and said "if it's in your budget I'd really like a private session with her."  Last Sunday was church and took the kids to see Ice Age. Monday was her gym time. Tuesday soccer, her last ballet class, and last swimming session.  Ballet actually ends next week but she'll be at church camp. She wants to quit ballet and focus only on gymnastics and we are taking a break from swim lessons for the rest of summer. Wed I took off because we are splitting wednesdays the rest of the summer to save on daycare. Aidan and I both got hair cuts and we spent the rest of day doing some school shopping with Grandma. I have horrible plantar fasciitis in my left foot and slammed my right foot in the car. I've lived with an ice pack next to me all week and I'm still trying to crank out the miles even though I should be resting. Today was a walk/run combo. It's soooo FRUSTRATING. Thursday their field trip was to a local park. Weekend is gymnastics and a birthday party and cleaning house. Never ending chores. Abby picking out just the right color to go with her dress for church, gymnastics session, and Daddy made Aidan a "me-me" pizza.

Week 6 Summer

It was "clean the house weekend" last weekend-so I spent the rest of last Saturday doing that instead of all the fun things I had envisioned... never enough time! Sunday was church and Saturday market. I even snuck in a nap so the kids got hosed on riding bikes. Monday was Cooper's 3rd birthday. The kids each made him a card, Aidan picked out a box of biscuits, Abby a jumbone, and we picked up a new collar and some dried sweet potato treat at Saturday market. Plus we sent him to day camp to romp and play and then grooming. SPOILED. The sweet potato thing ended up making him sick. He already had a follow up vet appt for end of steroid use, so they gave us a weeks' worth of pro biotic powder to add to his food for his upset stomach and now a strong antihistamine as needed for his allergies. Rick just LOVES this dog. I even hacked his facebook page to put Cooper as his cover photo :-)
Kids went roller skating on their field trip this week. Now I just need to get through Abby's church camp where they are taking her ice skating. argh. My 34 year old cousin was diagnosed with colon cancer. It has metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes. Basically all they can do is give chemo every other week "for the rest of his life" as they put it. I feel like since my mom had it, and now him that I'm a ticking time bomb....

Looking forward to a quiet weekend- just gymnastics and maybe a movie.

Week 5 Still

Aidan got to see Mater this week! A friend of mine posted on FB that Mater was near her house and she lives close to us so we hopped in the car. He was at a park for a birthday party but they were letting all kinds of strangers come and look :-) We took the kids out for frozen yogurt after since we couldn't find the Pu Pu Shack which is a mobile Hawaiian Shaved Ice van in our neighborhood. As soon as we turned on our street to go home, there it was! So funny. We decided Wed after I got off work to go to Big Al's bowling and pizza instead of Saturday. Abby FINALLY got her Royal Academy of Dance exam results. We did Enjoy Pu Pu Shack later in the week
Rick took today off so I was able to go to Barre this morning before gymnastics!

Week 5 Summer

Have they really been out of school for 5 weeks already.... tick tock.... I had Sunday school duty again to fill in for vacations, Abby had her ears flushed (every now and then after a cold or ???? she gets huge amounts of wax build up and then she can't hear), finally got berries, more swimming, jam making, little roller skating, bike riding, s'mores making...kids had a 'sleepover.' Not much planned this week just work (blah). Kids go to a theater and a park for their field trip this week. Rick has Saturday off so after Gymnastics we are using our Al's Sharing Spree and doing the whole bowling/pizza thing, Sunday hope to go to Saturday market- depends on if our swim teacher is back and wants to do their lessons.

Week 4 Summer

Had an awful sore throat for 10 days - I kept thinking, "ok if it's not better tomorrow I'll go in" and would just keep waiting day after day. Finally scheduled an appt but couldn't get in until 7/17. As last Sunday progressed it just felt worse and I wasn't staying hydrated because I didn't want to swallow. I went to urgent care and ended up with 3 prescriptions. awesome. Went to Barre class again. I love it. Good thing cause I missed 3 days of working out due to the garage sale and being just TIRED. (or sick. or both) Had meal delivery Tuesday- I did crock pot mac and cheese it's usually a big hit and they have 3 girls so I can't imagine they wouldn't like it??? My younger cousin went to the dr last week with side pain he had been having. They did an ultrasound and CT scan and discovered a very enlarged liver with masses. When you hear the word cancer again in your family your heart just sinks. I'm sad and scared for him and praying praying praying. This same week I learned my Uncle has lung cancer that has spread. 4th of July came and went. We took the kids to the Zoo, a berry barn- wanted to pick berries but we didn't have enough time, and then to the movie Brave. We finished night off in traditional style with a BBQ and fireworks. The best news of all on the 4th was that Ash and Nick got engaged! WOOT WOOT
Field trips are down to once a week now that they only go to daycare 2x. They went to the Enchanted Forest this week- I loved that placed as a kid. Rick took Thursday off and I went in late so we could have a "date" which was a 10 mile run. I wanted to make sure I still had it in me to do that kind of distance. I haven't been this sore in a long time! Kids had gymnastics today and finally got to swim in our new pool!

Week 3 Summer

Between my allergies and this cold??? I have I haven't been feeling that great. Even THE DOG is on steroids for allergies. Every year I tell Rick I'm going to move. Where I don't know. It's just soooooo miserable. Finally went to my first Barre class. It's hard for me to work all day and see the kids very little and then leave again. Mommy guilt. But I tell myself that I rarely leave them and it's ok.... then I left again the next day for a belated birthday dinner with one of my besties. Go figure. Field trips this week were Reptile Rescue and the Zoo. Garage sale done. Hard to do that for 2 days and still have a house to clean. Never enough time.. thankfully Rick is home to help. Kids made $43 and change on their lemonade/donut/cookie stand. Sunday school duty today and wanted to pick berries for freezer jam but this weather is for the birds.
