Catching Up

Abby had her audiology hearing test Christmas Eve. She passed. Cooper got a package from the UPS man. Grandma sent him some biscuits. We survived Christmas. Opened presents, picked up my Mom and went to breakfast, more presents at her house. Came home and worked on prepping our Christmas dinner dishes for when the girls came over. I had to work the day after and Friday as well so hubs was stuck cleaning up the aftermath. Yesterday we took the kids to the zoo and ran some errands. Today is Christmas at his dads.

Merry Christmas

For unto us a child is born. A son is given. May you find peace, joy, and happiness in all that surrounds you.

'Tis the Season to be Jolly

I love this picture of Cooper. Doesn't he look thrilled about Christmas? Tuesday Rick took Abby to the dr. She has a bright red spot on her wrist that looks like a cut but it never goes away. We also had her ear wax flushed. They did a hearing test and she didn't pass on the left side. Back to audiology next week. From there he went to his Mom's for the afternoon to tackle a list of items she needed help with. Wednesday Abby was getting a surprise award at Chapel and she was playing the piano for a "talent" show as well so I left work early. That evening we took his Mom out to dinner for her birthday. Last day of school before break- they only had school for 3 hours today. I left early so they weren't stuck in daycare all afternoon. Nice to get a headstart on chores. My dad stopped by to drop off gifts for the kids. My cousin's cancer has spread to his lungs. His liver tumors are also growing. My heart is heavy and he's on my mind all the time. Tomorrow Aidan has a haircut and then we need to hit the library, Abby has gymnastics and then decorating cookies and more cleaning house. Sunday is church, last swim lesson with our fabulous instructor and then to his Mom's for family Christmas. So. Little. Time.

Weird.

I've been in a weird place this season. Trying to find my joy. Feeling bad about that when my cousin is battling cancer and, well... has no joy. Praying for my heart to be in the moment, in the season, my efforts focused on HE who makes all things possible. I think it's just too much. Rushed. Hurried. Christmas programs. Piano recitals. Baking. Wrapping. WORK. Both of us focused on our jobs. SIGH. Yet thankful. His company is going through a round of layoffs. In other news, Finnegan is having fun at our house!

Birthday Weekend

Friday was Aidan's birthday. I brought snowman Krispy Kreme donuts to his class. We actually had his party that evening at a local jungle gym. Saturday we went to breakfast with my Mom and then to buy his mandatory outfit for his Christmas program this week. Of course Grandma dropped a load spoiling them. From there I took the kids to gymnastics and finished cleaning house. Sunday was my annual girlfriend brunch/ornament exchange. Was actually nice not having it my house this year. Came home for a bit and we went to a local dairy who has a Storybook Lane every year at Christmas. Then we took Aidan out for his birthday dinner. Came home and made my dough for cinnamon rolls. Hope to get those done this evening. Tick Tock. So much to do.
