A Bit of History

My grandfather- listed at Charles Moller... I've only seen one photo posted so far but it's a great read.

There is hope!!!

I kid I kid. He FINALLY did a puzzle. This is huge!! The kid who refuses to pick out puzzles because "he doesn't want to learn." The kid who says Abby should learn his ABC's for him because there are too many letters. Today, he got a puzzle out all by himself. And did it all. by. himself. Then he proceeded to do two more!

Let's see... the weekly mishaps were kept to a minimum... I did forget to put the ice block thingy in the kids lunches on Wednesday. Aidan scolded me and told me his lunch wasn't cold. I was hauling stuff upstairs and picked up what I thought was a leaf only to find out it was a Cooper turd. Bare handed mind you. I think I need to make an eye appt? Let's see is it a leaf? or dog poop? leaf? dog poop? He is completely potty trained, I think this one was just uh... was stuck???
Oh this week in Abby-ism's she asked her brother if he knew how some people got animals to go to sleep. He said he didn't know so she told him. They shoot them with guns. Nice.
Cooper went to doggie daycamp today and it's been like a vacation for me.

Dumplings, bumps, and tonsils oh my

I made chicken and dumplings last week. They were FABULOUS. The best I've had! Makes for great comfort food on a rainy winter night. Recipe from The Pioneer Woman's blog.
Abby had an an appt with her ENT today. The same Dr who did her ear tubes and Aidan's ear tubes. She's been doing this snorting thing with her nose as well as constant throat clearing. Her ped referred us to ENT because her tonsils looked large. Bottom line is she falls into the category of 'other' meaning she hasn't had 6 strep infections in a year to warrant yanking the tonsils, and she doesn't snore loudly to warrant concern for sleep apnea. On a scale of 1-4 he said her tonsils are at a 3. He said he wouldn't recommend surgery if he didn't think it would help but that ultimately he doesn't know. He is proposing a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. I was hoping for a clear cut answer yes or no vs. this gray area. Bottom line is she has these chronic symptoms, and her tonsils are big. One thing I do know is that I need to quit researching the topic on the internet. It gives me all kinds of anxiety. How can you decide something like this????
It seems as if everyone around us is sick. I had a co-worker out all week with the flu/tummy bug, another one out with an awful cold. Taekwondo kids were out sick. Aidan has a mild cold and tonight I feel like I'm coming down with something.
Rick has a goal of getting 60 miles in this month. He gets 5 miles in every time he goes and I hit my snooze button so much I end up only getting 3 in so I have to run 5 days a week and sometimes twice a day to get my miles in and he's done in 3.
Enough rambling. Happy Friday

You'll have to excuse my chipped dishes.

Big bump on the forehead. I left the nose out of it. He wacked his nose one night and then did the forehead the next night. The kid makes me nervous. I just want to wrap him in bubble wrap.

Hello??? Anyone home???

Can it get any worse???? If I could step out of my body and look at myself I would slap myself silly and tell myself to get it together. GET. IT. TOGETHER. MAN.
Last payroll I messed up, end of year payroll to be exact but it was in everyone's favor. mostly.
This week I completely FORGOT to do payroll even though I have the schedule posted by my calendar. I was supposed to do payroll on Wed the 12th for payroll on Friday. Wednesday came and went. Thursday I finish my run, in the shower is when I go through my day and as I'm washing my hair I think payroll (because I thought Thursday was the 12th), finish this, do that yada yada, taekwondo tonight, gotta remember to flip the chicken that is marinating (which I forgot), it's cleaning week so vacuum, dust and mop upstairs. The shower is supposed to be where is all happens for me. Except that day. Complete fail. Get to work and I try to process payroll online and it won't let me. I panic. We call the payroll company and to make matters worse, they tell me Monday is a holiday so I can't get people paid until Tuesday. I go around to everyone in the company (thankfully we don't have a thousand people) and I explain what a complete moron I am (which I am sure they already knew) and ask if they are ok financially to make it until Tuesday...
Next up, my girlfriend wants me to order girl scout cookies, which I did. I sent her a note on Facebook. Except I didn't. Now I am trying to figure what friend's facebook page I ordered cookies on.
Friday nights I usually go grocery shopping at 8pm. I hate it but it's easier going alone vs getting the kids in and out of car seats AND going on a Saturday and meltdowns, and keeping track of them... I wanted to get in and out but I saw my neighbor there and we ended up chatting for awhile. I get all my loot and find a lane and load up my $132 worth of food. I pay, the cashier hands me the receipt and with a smile says "You do realize you are in the express lane right?" Yeah, the one that says 12 items or less. Seriously. GET IT TOGETHER.
You didn't think I was done did you? Last night was kitchen cleaning and dusting downstairs. The big ol Costco can of pledge slipped out of my grasp and fell on the wood floor breaking the cap in a few pieces. Some pledge leaked out onto the floor where I just wiped it up thus creating a very slippery waxy surface on the hardwood. Aidan has fallen twice. Cooper's fallen more times than I can count.
Aidan was supposed to go to a bday party today but it was cancelled cause the birthday boy is sick, so instead of that and running errands today with the kids, I opted for us to stay home in our jammies watching movies where I am safe from only screwing up laundry and meals and watching people/animals fall on the floor.

For Aidan

Dear Aidan,

You are four years old and you have a truck.

This truck to be exact. A 1956 Ford F100. Guess I won't have to worry too much when you start driving because this thing is like a tank.

Apparently you have to be the only boy born into a family of girls and you get a truck AT AGE FOUR.
You love the new truck and you want to know where Abby's is. How sweet you are.
Now remember, we are not to call this your daddy's mid life crisis, this is a father/son project due to the fact that he FINALLY has a boy. Amen.

Lucky Number 7

Seven years ago today we married and then two weeks later we were at Sunnyside Hospital conceiving Abby with a turkey baster. OK it was more like a big syringe. Romantic isn't????
Happy Anniversary to the man who always lets me eat the last of the popcorn in the bowl, who always put a new bar of soap in my soap dish for me in the shower when mine gets thin. For loving me through my good, my bad and my ugly, who has seen me at my worst and hopefully my best.
