Last night Abby had soccer. When we get there early we usually go out on the field and kick some balls around with her and let Aidan run loose... probably a good 10 minutes. We had fun running around on the field and then her class started- we take Aidan off the field- walk around to keep him entertained, then stand by the sidelines to watch. As we are standing there this other mom comes up to me grabs my arm, looks me directly in the eye and says "your skirt is tucked into...something in the back.'"
YES. My skirt was tucked into my underpants for all of the entire soccer complex to see and yet my husband didn't utter one word. He of course 'didn't notice'. I remained composed, pulled my skirt down and waited the entire 50 minutes for her class to hurry up and end. When we left I said- "Well the entire place got a good viewing and all Rick could say was "I hope you weren't wearing ugly underwear." That is whole other discussion in itself. He obviously thinks some of my undergarments are in fact, ugly.
I have to give him credit though. He is the most amazing husband and father. He's been ironing!! He does so much to help balance things around here with both of us working. I'm truly blessed.
On the flip side, I used one of my Mother's Day gift certificates and got a massage today. It was THE BEST massage I have had in a long time. I can't wait to go back. If you need a great massage I'll pass on the info.

Memorial Day
Thank you to all of the men and women who are serving or have served in the armed forces. We are proud that you selflessly put yourselves out there to defend and protect our freedom. We are humbled and grateful by your service and dedication.
We had a very low key weekend at home. Saturday is a work day for Rick so the kids and I just did the usual laundry/upkeep. I got out the double BOB and took them on a long walk to get some fresh air. I did 15 miles last week. If I had to guess I would say five, maybe six miles of it was walking thanks to my (insert word of your choice here) knee. It's actually feeling better. I've been icing it every night. You are probably thinking, Ok DORK why not sit it out a week? Because people... I have 3 weeks until my surgery after which I cannot do ANYTHING for 4-6 weeks. I can't even do light walking until week 2.
Abby is excited to loose her baby teeth because the tooth fairy will come. On occasion she tries to tell us a tooth is loose. Today she asked, “Mom, how old will I be when my baby teeth fall out?” I said probably six or seven and she said, “I would rather be seven.” Then she says “how much longer until I am five?”
The other day I was folding clothes and she went into our closet and pulled out the medical shoe I wore when I broke my toe. She asked how the dr knew it was broken and I said I had x-ray’s taken. She asked what x-ray’s are and I told her they take pictures of your bones and then she asks, “How do you pull your skin off?”
Sometimes when we are having a quick meal I throw one of those frozen veggie steam bags in the microwave. The kids rarely will touch it but I continue to try and when there is some left over I noticed that Rick will re-freeze it. The other night was a quick dinner night so I look in the freezer and find some corn. Let me remind you that on Rick’s work nights he gets home at 7:30 so he doesn't eat with us, so I just leave dinner out for him to reheat. When I do the frozen veggie bags, I typically leave a spoon in the bag or next to. That night I get the corn out that’s been re-frozen and I open it up- and found that he NEVER touched the corn because there was the spoon- frozen inside the bag. He just came home from work, ate dinner- didn’t touch the corn and wrapped it up. I’m always telling him I’m part of CSI. The funniest was when we were at our old house in Aloha and we were enjoying Starbucks and Starbucks coffee cake at the kitchen bar. I walked away for awhile and I came back- and I said “you ate bites of my coffee cake.” I think he was shocked. How I knew this- I am left-handed. My fork was lying on the right hand side of my plate when I returned. CAUGHT CAUGHT CAUGHT. Eat your veggies.
Aidan’s favorite thing to do is climb on this old rocking chair we have. He will do it all day long. Here are some pics of him in the chair and wearing Abby’s dress up high heels- hey at least he knows how to match. Also photos of Abby and I making blueberry oatmeal muffins. She was so excited she waited in the chair by the stove for the timer to go off. In case you haven't noticed- in almost all the pictures, she is wearing either a ballet outfit or some sort of princess dress up costume. All day every day. The infant wrist rattle on her arm- that's her 'watch.'

It's Friday!
I figured out what was wrong with me and the Bosu. It had a bit too much air in it. We are getting along much better and I can finally do some of the exercises without falling off.
Let's see... I've posted the kids' first year videos under favorite links. I have to give credit where it is due to my friend Lori's parents- Robert and Billie for GRACIOUSLY putting together Aidan's video. They live in Hermiston and I need to get their photography business on my links. Mental note right there.
Still running although my knee is definitely bothering me. It doesn't like the Bosu and I've tried running the past two days- not a good idea. I ended up walking alot which just put me in a bad mood. I'm putting ice on it but it's not helping either.
My big (and very personal) news. I debated on blogging about this- but the more support and prayers I get the better. I've been approved for a breast reduction. My surgery is in 3 weeks on FRIDAY the 13th. I'll blog more later and selfishly request prayers becuase I am nervous and anxious about the entire thing. I've been on the wait list for 6 months and finally got a call last month just to get the consultation appt. It's a long process. I cannot lift anything for 4 weeks- and it tears me up just thinking about not being able to pick up Aidan. Abby too- but she is going on 4 so she is outgrowing the wanting to be held stage. We are working out the logistics of Rick taking time off from work, and then working short days on the 2nd week since I cannot get the kids in and out of their car seats. Plus I need to hire/find someone to come and clean our house during this time.
Rick took both kids to get haircuts today while I was at work. (I'm still at work). I can't wait to see their little heads. We have nothing planned this weekend except for the usual- Church and library visit. I am just beyond excited to get 2 days in a row off together as a family. More later.

Beach and Weekend Pics
Some pics of Aidan's first beach trip and outside play time in the nice weather. Oh... the pink flower hat that he has on... He will NOT keep on his sun hat so I had to put Abby's old one on him because it has a chin strap. From the second I put it on he didn't even bother to touch it. GO FIGURE.
I only ran 11 miles last week and did the Bosu 2x. I didn't even make it through my 2nd DVD. The instructor I swear is a psychotic Bosu drill sergeant. I am still sore 2 days later. At one point she has you flip the thing over and you are in the push up position, like a plank, balancing on the ball and then you are supposed to rotate side to side and back and forth in this position. She was on like number 15 while I was still trying to finish my first one. So I just stood up and laughed this woman. It's too bad it wasn't interactive. I had a lot to say to her. Aside from all that, it's something that makes you so frustrated you want to master it so I'll be working on that move.
Rick was cleaning off our deck and slipped and fell down the stairs. He says he is fine but we will see how sore he is tomorrow.

$63, Bosu and not much else
Sixty-three bucks to fill up this week. That’s like taking food from a baby. Not happy about the gas prices. Rick says his mom used to make pancakes with creamed corn which I have found to be called Corn Fritters. I am going to spring them on the family next week for dinner. That has to be a cheap meal right? The kids love having breakfast for dinner. I also made biscuits and gravy for dinner a few weeks ago- the price per serving was like $.27 cents I believe.
Rick got me my Bosu Balance Trainer for my birthday with 2 work out dvd’s. I’ve been wanting to try the Bosu and let me tell you- my first time on it this week was HILARIOUS. It’s great for toning/strength training. There is this one segment where they expect you to lay on the Bosu- which for those of you who don’t know- it’s a dome-like contraption that is bouncy. Anyway you are supposed to lay on it with the Bosu in the small of your back- lift up your legs and torso to do these sit up things, all while trying to keep your balance- because after all it’s is a “ball”. I kept falling off and laughing hysterically. I’ve got a lot of work to do to perfect that move. It was great for lunges and squats. Oh... and then they have you turn the thing over and try to do push ups on it- while balancing. Seriously- it's like trying to do push ups on a beach ball. I’m a little sore so hopefully it’s working. I highly recommend it. Check it out at Amazon.com.
The kids are good. Abby is still obsessed with fire, fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers. I think we are hoping this phase will quickly pass. Everywhere we go she seeks out fire related items. Aidan continues to try out new words. His latest is trucks and he loves to say shoes. He too is a daddy’s boy. How is it that both of my kids ended up that way??? He walks around looking for him saying “dah-yeee” “dah-yeee”

Scuffy and Bad Habit
Tonight Abby had soccer pictures, while she was posing the lady asked her "who is here with you?" and Abby replies, "Mom, Dad and Scuffy." We've even gotten so used to it we just call him Scuffy in public.
Towards the end of last week Abby says "Scuff has a new nickname, it's Bad Habit."
I can't help but to laugh everytime I hear her call him that.
Poor Scuffy.
