Birthday Weekend

Abby's birthday party was today and I tell you- as much as I balked at the price (we booked it in the summer before we knew the economy would tank)- it was WORTH every penny not having it at our house. She had 20 little friends from school, the neighborhood and her friends from my girlfriends... after that we all got flu shots! Abby was the only one lucky enough to get the nasal mist spray. After a brief visit home we headed off to another birthday party. We have double header birthday parties next weekend as well.
I cannot believe she is turning four tomorrow. I say this every year.

Latest

Rick has tennis elbow. Aidan has a fever and double ear infection. Abby... she is just so excited to turn 4 this weekend so she can be 'all growed up'. The best news of the day, Ashley got accepted to George Fox University's (my alma mater) Master of Arts in Teaching program!
WAY TO GO!!!!
Aidan felt a little warm to me this afternoon and I noticed this morning he stuck his finger in his ear and said owie a few times. He's had this cold since the beginning of LAST week. One day his nose will run the next day it won't. So... off to urgent care after dinner. The little peanut is 28 lbs now and both tubes are already out- just sitting there in the canal. They didn't last long so hoping he won't need another set. Rick is wearing this arm brace thing and is supposed to be getting a call to set up physical therapy. As for me, I've only been able to run ONCE in the last 7 days. eeks.

Election

Tonight the news was on and up popped an ad for Jeff Merkley. Aidan points to the tv and says "da-da." He kept doing it too. Aidan... this is NOT your da-da.

It's my lucky day (or is it???)

I am going in late to work because I have a dr appt this morning- so I figured I would treat myself to a latte (it's been 5 weeks but who's counting). Starbucks messes up my drink (as usual) so they give me a free drink coupon. That's part of the lucky part. The other part is I paid for a grande but got a venti. Nice. Then I get gas and it was $3.03. THREE-O-THREE. Unreal.

Everyone in the house is sick except for Abby. Her birthday is next weekend too- so I am holding my breath she isn't sick for that. I was all set to run 25 miles this week but wasn't feeling so hot last night so I've lowered it to 20. We'll see.

Getting his morning reading in- I like the hand on the chin

The princess plays in her room at bedtime- when it's finally quiet we usually go in to re-arrange her and find all sorts of things in bed. Last night she had shoes on.

Sunday

I ran 5 miles tonight. Today was the 5 mile run I wanted to sign up for but was too chicken...guess I wanted to prove to myself I could have done it in a decent amount of time. Rick hung up the halloween lights and the cobwebs outside. The kids had fun playing in the rain and watching. At church this morning the woman greeting us at the door oogled over the kids and as I walked by she said something like "aren't you blessed." YES yes yes I am. I am grateful, thankful, blessed.

He is Mighty to Save

Everyone needs compassion
Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The Hope of nations
Saviour
He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save
He is Mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus

Rain Rain Go Away...

Actually I like it. I love fall- my favorite time of year. Makes me want to spend the day in sweats, eating good soup and being a loaf. In reality, that would probably only happen if I got sick. Rick has made it two full days back at work. He's not 100% but he's functioning. Abby's nose looks great- now she just has a skinned up knee from the sidewalk. Aidan has been battling a small cold, hoping it just goes away. He loves to copy everything his sister does now.
Jessica got a great promotion at Amazon.com and Ashley has made it to the 2nd phase of the admitting process at George Fox for her MA in Teaching. She has a group interview on 10.13. I have no doubt they will accept her!
Grandma Irene stopped by again this week with more canned goodies and fresh veggies. While we were showing her the new backyard Abby let loose a rather large fart. There is no other way to say it- passing gas doesn't do it justice. It was loud. The funny part is she does this and tries to cover it up by saying, "Boy, my tummy is growling."
