Week 6 Halfway Point

Can't believe it. This is the summer of crazy that is why it's going by too fast. No time to enjoy it. Sunday was church and we started moving out of the downstairs. Our hardwoods are going to be refinished and we are having them installed in the remaining three rooms that have carpet. This entails emptying the playroom. Actually... the entire downstairs. In between packing, Hubs worked on scraping the wallpaper off of Aidan's room and messing with all the leaks on the pool and the filters. Monday Aidan started Jordan Kent sports camp for the week. It's finally his turn for some camps! He is filled with bruises, scratches, cuts and blisters. He didn't look well towards the end of the week- the heat and activity wiped him out. More tutoring and gymnastics. My dad reached out me last week and told me he had a heart attack awhile back and both his kidneys are blocked. They inserted stents in his kidneys and he met with the vascular surgeon this week to discuss the circulation in his leg. It's the most he has spoken to me in 3 years. Sad that it takes something like that to happen. Apparently he has an artery blocked from his hip to knee they are going to do some exploratory procedure to see if they can do a stent or some sort of transplant. They can't do anything until his kidney's are fixed. Then my Aunt (dad's sister) was in the ER with heart and kidney issues this week.
Friday hubs had his annual work golf tournament so he brought the kids to my work for the afternoon and then I took them shoe shopping. For Aidan really because he was busting out of his shoes. They had buy one get one 40% off so Abby ended up with a pair. I need to be more intentional with my prayer time. Spinning in circles it seems and I feel out of sorts when I'm not connecting and in the word.
This morning I cleaned upstairs while Rick went to his mom's to put up a deer fence. What we thought would be a quick trip was more like 3 hours so our planned family blueberry picking outing turned into the kids and I having lunch and school shopping with Grandma. Since he had to come home and sleep before work we didn't get any family time. Sad face. Abby got her first rip on her hand. Sign of a true gymnast. Lots of congrats going around but it looks even worse now that the skin is off. Aidan is giving all the money he has earned this summer to his church camp's mission offering this week. He's up to 43.50 (somehow got a dollar off grandma). The money is going to the Bright Hope School in India for girls.
Parts finally came in for the last 2 recalls on our car sooooo glad that is done. We're getting estimates for all the dry rot on our house (unreal one was $9K), floors are happening and then windows are next. It's like holding your breath just hoping you make it through the week. His schedule might be pushed back to later so now I need to figure out how to get the kids from school once school starts. Yikes. Keep on keeping on....

Can't forget...

The baby turned 5 last week.

Week 5 Summer

Last Sunday I took the kids to church, out for donuts and a small grocery trip. Hubs was sleeping so we stayed quiet downstairs. I worked out, made lunch, prepped dinner. Then I took a nap :-) Hubs came down about 1pm and I told him that wasn't going to work and sent him back upstairs to sleep more. I don't know what it is with him and refusing to sleep. I finally sent Abby up at 5pm to wake him up so he could shower, eat and head back to work. Real low key, lazy day. Monday took Aidan to daycare. He had a field trip to the ceramic paint place. Even though hubs was sleeping, I let Abby stay home with him so she didn't have to endure daycare. I left her a list of things to keep her busy and quiet. Tuesday she started horse camp again. Aidan to daycare. She also started her first gymnastics team class. 2 hours 2x a week. She was sore. Wednesday horse camp. Aidan on a field trip to a spray park. Thursday Aidan could have stayed home with dad but he wanted to go to daycare ha! More tutoring, another 2 hour gym session. Friday was last day of horse camp, and trying out a new swimming lesson place. The reason why we have trouble doing school work in the summer with our boy is clearly depicted below. It is painful. I don't know who cries more. Oh... and we upgraded our pool. It's ginormous. Yeah. Didn't expect that. Today all of 4 of us helped the barkdust pile that has been in our driveway for 3 weeks. We dropped Abby off at her friend's house for a swimming play date for a few hours. Once she was home they tried out the pool. Water was too cold so it didn't last long. We started boxing up the playroom to prepare for more house maintenance coming.

Week 4 Summer

Four weeks in already! Monday Aidan went to daycare, hubs slept because of night shift. Was very strange not having Abby around. Tuesday Aidan went on a field trip to an air museum- got to sit in a black hawk helicopter. Wednesday he had a park/splash pad field trip. Abby came home this day as well. She came off the bus and burst into tears because she didn't camp to end. Hubs and I cried right there with her. She journaled every day so it was great to experience all that she did through her writing- even down to what she ate every meal. We had all of our trees taken out along this fence, stumps ground, and maples/dogwood pruned. Then arborvitae planted. Photos are out of order. Hubs had to dig out the fence post one night, next night he re-built the fence, next night was digging up roots and fixing the sprinkler leak. Thursday I was at work and kids home with him. Aidan had another private swim lesson. Friday was the 4th. Today we made more beignets and ran errands. Picked up a clearance frame for the football print I want to put in Aidan's room once we get it finished. Tried out the Jamberry nail wraps. Fun... but I'm not sure how long they will last.
Two nights of tutoring, two nights of team gymnastics, and now adding 1 night of swim lessons. Pretty sure I won't have to cook dinner anymore.
